The Lycanphrope Project

In 2021 I was asked to join a collaborative “fake history” series called The Lycanthrope Project by my friend Eduardo Valdés-Hevia, who is one of the Founders of the series. A group of extremely talented illustrators and photoshop artists started creating historical pieces that depict a different reality where a species of werewolves have existed alongside humans since the dawn of man.

Within the deepest caverns of the Les Farges cave, located in France, lies a ritual chamber made by Middle Paleolithic lycanthropes. The wall shows a series of painted silhouettes leading toward the Moon. When lit up sequentially, they produce an early form of animation.

A Venus statue depicting a lycanthrope figure, dated ~20,000 BC. Found among personal affairs in the Les Farges cave, France, it is believed to be a manner of self-portrait of a Lycan woman. As lycanthropes interbred with modern humans, these caves were progressively abandoned.
